The first ever TRAVELER's Company Caravan Event Malaysia took place from 14-16 September during the Malaysia Day holidays recently with each TRAVELER'S Notebook Partner Store holding their own respective events (Tabiyo Shop ran a Spiral Ring Viking Event and Cziplee will be exhibiting the history of TRAVELER'S Notebook and exhibiting user notebooks).
We wanted an activity that was was true to our core and embodied our values and that as most of you know, is through art. We started using the TRAVELER's notebook back in 2013 to document our travels through printed photographs and ephemera treating it like a scrapbook of sorts but quickly began adding little doodles to it. Our drawings were less than subpar in the beginning but over a decade of consistency we amassed dozens of completed refills and thousands of otherwise forgotten memories. We've shared our process with all of you on social media and along the way made hundreds of likeminded friends who also now partake in this wonderful vice, sorry, habit.
Call it urban sketching, visual journaling or doodling but one must admit, a journal spread filled with drawings no matter how haphazard or meticulously neat is sure to turn heads.
And so for our Caravan event we chose to organise a sketching event with 40 of you lovely TN users, while most were Malaysians we also had visitors from Singapore, Phillipines, Indonesia and even China join us! Our TRAVEL & SKETCH event took place at The Gasket Alley, just across the road from us, a favourite neighbourhood lifestyle hub with rustic, grungy architecture filled little eateries, cafes and offbeat lifestyle stores. TN users who attended the event put pen to paper to sketch details around the place, some chose to draw food, cars, storefronts and one user even documented event posters on the walls of some of the stores.
Here are some pictures from the event, enjoy!
Group photo of everyone who attended the event!
We also had a mini exhibition of illustrated notebooks from local TRAVELER'S Notebook users.
Our TRAVELER'S Caravan stamp is the ais kacang! It's available for stamping in store so do visit us :)
The TRAVELER'S Company team meeting Leia!
One with the TRAVELER'S Company team, thank you so much for making this possible! We hope you come back to Malaysia soon, terima kasih!
Lastly but most importantly, the biggest thank you and appreciation to the Stickerrific team for all your hard work and passion (including those who stayed back at the store to hold down the fort while we were at the event). Every one of us are
TRAVELER'S Notebook users ourselves so it has been incredibly special to see the community come together to share their love for journaling. Thank you again to everyone who traveled and made us part of your Caravan stop, we hope you made plenty of memories and friends in this journey!
See you at the next one!
