The Day-Free combines a monthly calendar with a graph paper notebook. It was designed for users who have been ignoring dates as they use the pages and for those who are bothered by having blank daily pages scattered throughout their book. The Day-Free is available in A6 Original or A5 Cousin size, and will fit the same techo covers as their standard counterparts.
Because the book is half the size of the full-year Planner/Cousin book, it is light and portable.
The monthly calendar is the same calendar you’ll find in the standard books, designed with graph paper to make it easy to use. The 2023 edition will contain entries for December 2022 through March 2024. Do note that the A5-size Day-Free does not contain the weekly calendar like its Cousin counterpart.
The blank graph paper notebook contains a total of 171 numbered pages and is comprised of 3.7 mm squares.
You can fill in as much as you want at a time without feeling constricted to dates. Keep a journal, draw a picture or graph, paste in ticket stubs, scribble on the pages, and fill the pages with capricious whims or meticulous plans — it’s all up to you.
The Day-Free blank notebook section includes the Hobonichi Techo’s characteristic daily quotes in Japanese.
The bottom right corner of each spread features a flipbook comic titled “One Pencil,” illustrated by 100%ORANGE.
The Day-Free includes other sections from the standard daily techo book: the yearly calendar, the yearly index page, and the informational pages in the back of the book.

Note: The Hobonichi Techo's Tomoe River paper is designed to prevent bleed-through, but some fountain pens and water-based ink pens are not compatible with this paper. When switching to a new pen, we recommend testing the pen somewhere in the book, such as the back memo pages, to see if the ink bleeds through or takes an especially long time to dry.
